Zarifopoulos S.A.,
one of the largest Greek
companies in the field of
Security and Fire Detection
Systems with over 30 years
presence in the greek market
and with numerous
installations in the private
and public sectors, has
supplied and commissioned
Fire and Carbon Monoxide
(CO) Detection systems in
the shopping mall
“THE MALL”
in Maroussi Athens.
-
The Fire Detection system of
NOTIFIER (HONEYWELL),
one of the biggest
manufacturers worldwide, is
of the latest technology
incorporating the “Flashcan”
communication protocol,
which increases
communication speed between
peripheral detection devices
and the main control panel
to five times or more,
compared to older technology
and/or other manufacturers’
systems.
Besides Flashscan
communication protocol
support, the main control
panel of the system has the
ability to support up to 318
devices per loop, with
registration interval time
less than 2secs, opposite to
the older and/or other
manufacturers’ systems that
can support only 198 or 127
devices per loop.
Furthermore, all the
equipment and devices of the
system are UL listed and FM
approved.
-
ADOS’
Carbon Monoxide (CO)
detection system provides
the ability of automatic
measurement of CO
concentration and warning to
all of the station areas.
It complies with the German
standards of VDE 2053 and
the whole system is divided
into zones equivalent to
those of the ventilation
system. Corresponding fans
connect to the CO detection
system via the Main Control
System, so separate areas of
the station can be
independently ventilated,
depending on the degree of
air pollution in each one of
them.
-
The Central Security Alarm
Monitoring system coming
from
Honeywell
(former
Ademco)
manages and controls all the
local security systems
installed in the stores via
proper monitoring modules
that transfer alarm signals
to it. The Central Security
Alarm Monitoring consists of
latest technology
Addressable Alarm panels so
that the user can be able to
determine the exact local
panel and in addition the
store that sent the alarm
signal.

March 2005
-
In the frame collaboration
with Honeywell,
Zarifopoulos
S.A.
advanced the education
of their personnel in the
hardware and software that
allocates the company
NexWatch,
which belongs to the
Honeywell group of
companies.
-
NexWatch specialises in
access control applications
and particularly in
solutions designed for
high-end applications.
-
The
Pro-Watch
Access Control System
constitutes the flagship of
NexWatch.
It includes hardware and
software suitable for access
control applications that
can cover the whole width of
requirements, from small
installations until high-end
applications, which may
include management of many
autonomous access control
systems that also have been
utilized by Pro-Watch.
-
NexWatch
uses the Star 1 and Star 2
series controllers for the
access control
implementation, as well as
various types of card
readers such as magnetic
stripe readers, proximity
readers, smart card readers,
contact less smart card
readers etc.
-
Apart from the hardware that
Nexwatch manufactures and
uses for her applications,
it supports hardware that
stems from Northern
Computers Inc. (member of
Honeywell Group) and
particularly the PW5000
series controllers and
accessories, and classic
readers that are used in
access control systems.
-
NexWatch
utilises the latest
technology on the producing
hardware, using Intel x86
processors for their
controllers, RS-485
communication networks,
TCP/IP networks and
contactless technologies, as
well as in their software,
too, where, they hold the
Microsoft Gold Partner
Certification, and they
utilize the possibilities of
the powerful SQL Server
database, while, at the same
time they use the Microsoft
Windows Security System for
the user verification.
-
Some of the most important
characteristics that make
the Pro-Watch discriminate
from the rest access control
systems that our company
deals with, is the complete
compatibility of Pro-Watch
with CCTV Digital Video
Recorders coming from
Honeywell-Ademco, such as
Fusion and
RapidEye, as well
as other manufacturers DVRs,
such as
Pelco, American
Dynamics e.t.c.
There is also the
possibility for people
counting in specific places
controlled by Access Control
System and the possibility
of running specific
procedures when these reach
a specified number.
-
At the same time we can
directly import floor plans
straight from AutoCAD files
and have separate screens of
the floor plans showing on
our monitor in case of
corresponding alarm.
Finally, it’s worth
mentioning that Pro-Watch
Access Control System can
constitute an ideal tool for
visitor management,
especially when used in
combination with the
LobbyWorks System coming
from NexWatch, too.
-
Pro-Watch training took
place in Honeywell
facilities in Germany and
particularly in Sconaich a
small town near Stuttgart.
Mr Rob Oosterling, Sr. Field
Service Engineer, was the
instructor and he’s
specialized in Access
Control Systems.
Zarifopoulos S.A
participated with two
persons. The participants
were Mr Manos Chajivagias
and Iraklis Girtis.
Generally, apart from
Zarifopoulos S.A.
participation, there were
participants from all over
all Europe.
There were two individuals
from Holland, one individual
from Iceland and three
individuals from Russia.
It’s worth mentioning that
one of the Russians, Mr
Vassili Volkovitski,
Technical Manager for the
Honeywell Russia, was
himself instructor in the
WinPAK Access Control
System.
Generally, the whole
training process was
something that indeed made
all the participants better
in Access Control, and is
something that surely will
help the company in the
difficult sector of security
systems and particularly in
the sector of Access Control
Systems.

July 2004
Article that was released in
Norbain’s site:
-
“Zarifopoulos Takis SA,
Greece’s leading CCTV
installation and
distribution Company, is
helping the country’s
leading institutions and
hotels prepare for the
country’s greatest sporting
moment and, perhaps, the
country’s greatest security
challenge. With the 2004
Olympic Games only weeks
away, organizations
throughout the country are
investing enthusiastically
in new CCTV security
systems.
-
Zarifopoulos Takis is the
single largest export
customer worldwide of
Norbain SD, Europe’s largest
distributor of electronic
security solutions and home
to the Vista brand of CCTV.
Working with Norbain since
1991, the two companies have
grown together, spearheading
the take up of CCTV in
Greece. With its head office
in Athens and seven branches
countrywide, Zarifopoulos
Takis has developed a
particular expertise in the
banking sector that now
accounts for over 40% of its
business. This spans every
aspect of fire and security
including intruder alarms,
burglar systems and central
monitoring as well as CCTV.
-
Sales Director, Spilios
Alexopoulos, reports that
much recent work is inspired
by the forthcoming Olympic
Games and that this, in
turn, is stimulating
interest in new CCTV
solutions:
"Digital solutions are
growing in popularity very
fast in this environment, in
particular digital recording
units such as the Vista
Triplex™ Columbus Digital
Video Recorder.
Traditionally slower than
the remainder of Europe in
adopting technology, the
Olympics coming to Greece is
driving the take up of
digital CCTV throughout the
country, particularly in the
Athens region. Ease of use,
ease of searching recorded
images and overall image
quality are all important
factors in the digital
success story.
-
"We source almost all of our
CCTV products from Norbain
and four fifths of this is
from the Vista range"
explains Spilios
Alexopoulos. "Our customers
find Vista products
affordable but of a very
high quality. It is its
reliability of supply and
performance that keeps us
returning to Vista as our
premier CCTV brand of
choice."
-
Probably the largest
installer in Greece,
Zarifopoulos Takis is well
respected for its
professionalism and
expertise and this has led
directly to contracts in
sensitive and prestigious
locations such as the
financial services sector,
the British Embassy, leading
hotels and sports stadia,
ports and airports as well
as more ordinary public
projects and buildings such
as roads, schools and
mainstream commercial
environments”
